WATCH: Donna Karan Celebrates Her Line's 30th Anniversary With A Short Film Starring Karlie Kloss
A celebration is in order for Donna Karan, who’s spending the greater part of 2014 enjoying her brand’s 30th anniversary. The first slice of her fête was introduced in February at the start of her Fall 2014 runway show at New York Fashion Week, in the form of a very ethereal video created by filmmaker Steven Sebring. True to her label’s DNA, the short film showcased urban life that was aspirational, yet realistic.
Now that next season’s print campaigns are beginning to roll out, Karan is all over the video format once again, this time with yet another Sebring-directed short film: “Woman in Motion,” which stars one Miss Karlie Kloss. Interpreting the designer’s obsession with movement quite literally, Sebring photographed Kloss inside a geo-dome with 100 cameras, so to capture every angle; he then combined the sequence of stills into a moving film. Pretty amazing stuff.
“It’s taking it to the next dimension,” said Karan. “When I saw it for the first time, I felt it was something so personally me. It was everything that I am about—the body, the movement of the body, the energy, the city. It was women on the move.”
By catering to the “woman on the go,” Karan’s anniversary film should strike a chord with each and every one of us working women who thrive on that hustle and bustle.
