If you were a high schooler, college student, recent graduate—or, heck, a human with a heart in the early aughts, then I'm willing to bet you've seen Garden State, Zach Braff's 2004 indie dramedy starring Natalie Portman, Peter Sarsgaard and the director himself. It's quite possible you've seen it multiple times, in fact, and also own (and still listen to) the movie's Grammy-winning soundtrack.*

Garden State's story revolves around Andrew Largeman (Braff), a 20-something struggling actor who's called back to his native New Jersey after his mother's death. Emotionally detached and having spent most of his life on a mix of psychiatric meds, Largeman spends his few days at home reconnecting with his old friends—all of whom are living similarly aimless lives—before meeting Sam (Portman), a pathologically lying spitfire (and one of the original Manic Pixie Dream Girls) who manages to shake him out of his apathetic state. Over the course of the movie, there's also a fair amount of garbage-bag-wearing, motorcycle-riding and rain-screaming—all set to some of the best alternative music ever featured in a movie and punctuated by some majorly deep life musings.

*Of course, it's also possible that you were one of those people who hated everything about Garden State and found its angsty quotations insufferable. In that case…I'm sorry. But also, you're wrong.
