Two and a half weeks past the Fourth of July, you might be thinking that no one has any business wearing stars and stripes for nearly another year. Perhaps you believe that anyone who does will wind up looking like Wonder Woman, or an old-school Uncle Sam poster. You, for one, certainly aren't going to risk it.

That would be a mistake. As you can see from the outfit above, yes, there really is a way to put the two patriotic prints together without reminding people of fireworks, cookouts and sparklers. Pulling it off is easier than you'd think: just avoid a classic red, white and blue combination (throwing in an unexpected color, like bright orange, helps!) and go with either very thin or thick stripes—exaggerated proportions keep the look from feeling like an American flag!
