High-Rise Skinny Jeans
Under $50
As several of our editors attested when I wrote this story, a good pair high-rise jeans has the magical ability to make your legs seem several inches longer. Bonus: you'll be able to wear crop tops without showing stomach.

Slim Ankle Grazer
Under $50

What sets these apart from regular skinny jeans is the lower half of the leg: rather than a skin-tight fit, there should be few inches leeway around the ankle bone. The style is lived-in and cool, like something a indie singer wears to band practice.

Boyfriend Fit
Under $50

The key here to go for slouchy, not ill-fitting. To rein in all the loose fabric, the legs should be slightly tapered and cropped (if the inseam's too long, you can always cuff!), the waistband snug enough to stay on your hips. Remember: plumber crack is not a good look!

Mom Jeans

Whether you wind up buying high-end denim with a '90s-inspired cut, or the same jeans your mother's worn for 20 years, you should always roll up around the ankles. That prevents any awkward, frumpy bunching around the feet.

Exposed knees are definitly having a fashion moment right now. Because holes tends to get bigger with wear, though, don't start with something that's overly shredded; after a few washes, it'll expose half your leg.
