In what will go down as one of the most memorable moments in all of VMAs history, Miley Cyrus' 2013 performance was entirely provocative, racy and controversial. The foam fingers, the oversized teddies, the Robin Thicke (still digesting that last one)—Miley etched herself a spot in the general awards show hall of fame.

Need we remind you?

This year, Miley nabbed an all-important Best Video moon man for the Terry Richardson-directed "Wrecking Ball," but her acceptance speech was far from the pageantry we'd experienced 365-odd days ago. Upon learning she'd won, Miley approached the stage with a young man, Jesse, only to hang back and let him accept the award solo—a whole new way of attention-grabbing altogether.

As it turns out, Miley watched—misty-eyed and beaming—as he gave a heartwarming speech about homeless youth in the Los Angeles area. Jesse, once homeless himself, concluded by urging viewers to head to Miley's Facebook page for more information on My Friend's Place, a homeless center for young people in Hollywood.

My, how the tables have turned. Miss Miley deserves major kudos for taking the time to advocate for such an important, worthwhile cause.
