Taylor Swift Pulls A Madonna At The MTV VMAs

Associate Digital Editor

If we've learned anything from Lady Gaga's addictive dance anthem "Born This Way," it's that great things come out of Madonna tributes. Further proof: Taylor Swift's live "Shake It Off" performance at this evening's VMAs. Clearly inspired by Madge's dapper dude-filled "Material Girl" video, Tay-Tay lead her own manly entourage of dancers like a boss, stopping once to playfully tousle one guy's 'do ("to the fella over there with the hella good hair…"). But instead of a pink ball gown, Swift did the whole number in a tasseled two-piece that looked amazing whenever she gave it a shake…shake, shake.

Check out both Swift's performance and Madge's original "Material Girl" video below! What did you think of the country-turned-pop star's homage to Madonna?
