The Trapeze Top

Our senior beauty editor, Cristina Mueller, approached this swingy, '50s-style blouse with a fair amount of skepticism; she's quite busty, and feared all that fabric would come off as tentlike. But following a couple of easy shopping rules prevents this from being the case. First, look only for a top that's cut narrow at the underarms: This will prevent you from feeling like you're shaped like a pyramid. It must also hit just above the cleavage, or you run the risk of appearing even bustier. Finally, look for a top that has some drape and softness, and that hits no lower than the hip bone.
