Putting it together:
- Pick a dress that's fitted up top with a slight flare that starts at the bust: The result is a flattering, swingy shape that has room for the shirt underneath. Since jumpers are innately girly, opt for neutral shades, like gray or navy.
- Choose silk or soft cotton blouses in electric-bright colors like cherry red or cobalt blue. And simplicity is key: Avoid floatiness and frills. Make the look a bit more casual by rolling sleeves to a three-quarter length.
- Don't go overboard with accessories. An oversize cocktail ring adds exactly enough glamour.
