To play down wide hips:
Choose a skinny belt and put it slightly above the natural waistline. This will elongate your legs and naroow your hips.
To carve out a waist:
A corset-style belt cinched right at the waist draws the eye inward, giving you an hourglass figure.
To hide a tummy:
Pick a wide belt that dips in the front, and wear it a bit lower to offset a poochy stomach: It'll create a nice blouson effect.
