Executive fashion director Alexis Bryan Morgan warmed to the idea—a bit. “The material’s really important,” she said. “You want high-quality fabrics, serious suiting tailoring. No cargo, no denim, no chino! And dress up the dressy shorts with a silky top, a belt, great shoes”—here she pointed to a pair of high-heeled Mary Janes—“no casual!”
After another moment of reflection, both editors spoke, as one: “And not tight!!”
