How-to (beauty)
Ponytails The most tried-and-true hairdo of all time is the height of chic once again.

Sleek
1. "Part your hair in the middle or slightly off-center; brush it back," says Redken stylist Guido Palau. Then fasten the ponytail tightly so it sits just below the middle of the back of your head.
2. Spritz hairspray around the hairline to downplay flyaways and generally defrizz and smooth.
3. Run shine serum or styling cream through the ponytail and flat-iron for a more polished look. Use an extra dab on the ends.

Rumpled
1. This is easiest with unwashed hair, since you want a sort of messed-up texture. To create that, spray volumizer or texturizer and roughly blowdry as you work your fingers through it.
2. Tease at the crown, loosely rake it all back with your hands, and secure it at the nape of your neck.
3. Stick in four or five bobby pins just above the elastic (they create a fuller, messy/teased look and keep it all in place).
