When Isabel Marant sent a pair of orangey red jeans down the runway two years ago, she kind of changed the way we dress.

Red jeans make even the most basic every day looks more punchy. Now the classics (blue, black, white, gray) aren't enough.

At this point, red jeans—this thing that, at one point, seemed CRAZY—are so common that they're almost a neutral. (Seriously. I don't even blink when I see someone wearing them. Except if that person's Justin Bieber). Here's how it happened and—ultimately—sparked a whole rainbow of denim:
